‘Arizona’s Largest Energy Company’ Will Leave ALEC

Over half a dozen corporations and major foundations have left the corporate front group American Legislative Exchange Council in recent days after intense scrutiny over its role in voter suppression and promoting lethal “Stand Your Ground” laws. Now, the Arizona Capitol Times reports that Arizona Public Service, the state’s largest energy company, will be leaving ALEC as well.

In March, Republic Report sent a letter to many of the corporate donors of ALEC. Arizona Public Service joins McDonalds, Intuit, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Kraft Foods in ending membership with ALEC. In recent weeks, Color of Change, Republic Report and other groups began a public campaign to explain to the world how ALEC corrupts state governments across the country.
