[...] Now a congressman is (generally) not an idiot. He (or she) cannot help but think of the fact that it may not be in his best interests to continue for more than a few years in Congress. And he cannot help but realize that landing a good job after Congress may depend on the good will of the people is dealing with as a congressman. He may, for example, be tempted to become a lobbyist; this is a natural sequel to a legislative career. And a rewarding one. One attempted investigation of how congressmen-turned-lobbyists are treated (and this is a hard thing to investigate) arrived at the astounding conclusion that in their new jobs, they received an average increase in salary of 1,452 per cent.
I think people need to realize that taxing is a good thing. With out taxing the government doesn't receive any money. People think that because its called a tax its bad but what do you think pays for everything? Like the tax on obamacare is what pays for the program. The rich people pay the least in taxes. My family paid twice as much per dollar than Warren Buffet a billionaire do that seem fair? and then people wonder why were in a financial crisis. Also the rich are so greedy that their nicknames as job creators doesn't really fit. This is because they move all the jobs to China for profit. But what they don't realize is the fact that if they pay the people in America more Americans will buy their product but corporations don't think for long term and then don't know what to do during the economic crash they cause.

[...] Update: Republic Report has launched an effort to bring transparency to the revolving door. Selling out pays. If you’re a corporation or lobbyist, what’s the best way to “buy” a member of Congress? Secretly promise them a million dollars or more in pay if they come to work for you after they leave office. Once a public official makes a deal to go to work for a lobbying firm or corporation after leaving office, he or she becomes loyal to the future employer. And since those deals are done in secret, legislators are largely free to pass laws, special tax cuts, or earmarks that benefit their future employer with little or no accountability to the public. While campaign contributions and super PACS are a big problem, the every day bribery of the revolving door may be the most pernicious form of corruption today. (See our post on Monday about current members of Congress already negotiating for jobs on K Street) [...]
